Jubilee Congregations, a program of Jubilee USA Network, support the Jubilee movement with one dollar and one letter of advocacy per member each year.

Mission Statement

The Jubilee Northwest Coalition is made up of organization and individuals in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. who are working toward a more just global economy. Our shared goal is the cancellation of all external debts considered illegitimate by the Global South, under a framework determined by the citizens of the borrowing nations themselves. We recognize that it is the wealthy countries of the North that owe the South for centuries of economic, ecological, social and cultural plunder. We call for the elimination of structural adjustment, the Highly Indebted Poor Countries Initiative and any other lending that seeks to impose policy conditions from outside the borrowing country that are inconsistent with the interest of citizens of the borrowing country.

In addition, we

Look to Jubilee South to provide leadership both in analysis of and actions related to poor country debt; and
work in solidarity with other economic, social and environmental justice campaigns and organization in the North and South.

How to help:

Membership in the Jubilee Northwest Coalition involves endorsement of the mission statement, a financial contribution of $25 (or as much as you can afford), a commitment to public education on global debt within your organization and participation in our work plan through volunteer, in-kind or fundraising support. All members are welcome to participate in Steering Committee meetings, which are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral.
